About Us
Welcome to the Centre Of Interdisciplinary Trauma Research (CITR) located in the Faculty of Health & Environmental Sciences. CITR staff & students undertake research that is aimed at gaining an understanding of the human experience of trauma. We interpret trauma as physical, psychological or cultural experiences that are extremely negative, uncontrollable, out of the ordinary. Trauma can be sudden or cumulative. Representing the diversity of health disciplines, we collaborate to reduce the occurrence of trauma as well as promote effective interventions aimed at reducing the harmful effects of trauma to individuals, families & society.
